2022 – Community Environmental Conversations

Locations: Baligubadleh and Gumar Village
Impact: Enhanced community awareness and participation in environmental conservation efforts, including reforestation and water resource management.

Impact: Supported 150 women in establishing small businesses, improving their economic independence and local economies.

Impact: Conducted training for community-based disaster risk management and implemented early warning systems.

Impact: Trained 200 women on legal rights, national gender policy, and formed advocacy groups to promote access to justice.

Voter Education awareness’s campaign on Voter Registration
in Burao, Somaliland

WHEEA have started to conduct meetings with different stakeholders at different walks of life to identify the key strategic people who are important for the success campaign of registration jn the region. After a long discussion the group have identified that traditional elder and village development committees are key essential for community registration and should be in the account amd the second group identified a voluntary work were the women coalition and the university student who take part in the community mobilization. The group has also agreed to develop a proper action plan for the implementation.

Paralegal training workshop

WHEEA have organized 3 day paralegal training for 27 Participant form Mohamed Ali IDP. The training was Funded by SIHA and aimed to improve the basic knowledge on Violence Against the women and reporting system of the women paralegals.
T he purpose of the Training was to strengthen systematic paralegal data collection and reporting systems of the women paralegals working in Mohamed Ali IDP camp and to enhance the women paralegal functions and systems in terms of reporting and their interactions with the other stakeholders including law enforcement institutions from police, Attorney and Court, their basic knowledge on violence and perpetrators, systematic paralegal.

Women economic empowerment

150 women villagers have established small businesses and improved their business management skills through provision of seed money and business management training. In every six months, the seed money benefits to new group of women in the waiting list. The money is deposited in a bank account managed by the women coalitions. Attending literacy classes also enabled them to record business transactions, names of customers and calculation of their outlays and incomes accurately. One beneficiary has share here experience before and after the project during participatory monitoring in 2019.
